Your first week driving in Perth: a few local tips

White hatchback, side view

New to Perth, or just new to driving here? A few things our customers find useful in their first week.

Check FuelWatch before you fill up

In Western Australia, service stations set tomorrow's fuel price today and hold it for 24 hours. The FuelWatch website shows prices near you, so it's worth a quick look before you fill up.

Know the default speed limit

In built-up areas the default limit is 50 km/h unless a sign says otherwise. Watch for 40 km/h school zones on school days.

Get to know the freeways

The Mitchell Freeway runs north and the Kwinana Freeway runs south, meeting in the city. From our Mirrabooka base, the Reid Highway links you to both.

Hands off the phone

Holding your phone while driving is illegal in WA, even at the lights. Set up maps before you start.
